About
In 2008 “The Women’s Coast” was created exclusively for The State Academic E. Vachtangov Theatre in Moscow with drama actors.
Choreographer
The truly distinctive performance is based on the enchanting songs by Marlene Dietrich. Anzelika Cholina tells a story about women who during the war ought to leave their homes. Searching for a peaceful place to stay they travel the ruined world only stopping for a brief minute. This time women settle down in an empty café. They are waiting for a ship. The performance is about hope. And waiting.
Music
M. Dietrich sings in many different languages – German, English, French, Hebrew. Different languages represent different women with their complicated life stories, hopes, dreams and fears. Even if we don’t know the language, we can still understand it by the sound, the movement, the gestures: it is all about love, passion, break ups, despair and hope.
